local elections

Tomorrow we have to go to vote.
I’m not completely sure which party to vote for, because at the local elections the subjects parties talk about are limited and they agree on 95% of them.
At the local level some parties are doing a lot of good work whereas they can’t accomplish anything valuable at the national level and vise versa.
Well, I’ve limited my choice to two and at the local level it doesn’t matter which one is chosen. Lucky me.
I’ll go to vote with a sjawl/skarf over my head.
It’s a protest against the ultra right movement of Geert Wilders, who wants to ban al headwear for women inside the council buildings and at organisations that receive council grants.
His aim is to forbid muslim women to wear their religious symbol.
He won’t forbid keppeltjes, crosses and other religious symbols, so he’s discriminating.
And he is telling all Dutch women what they can’t wear.
I’m sorry, but I want to wear something over my hair when I want to.
My mother did, my gram did and all the women before them did.
It was even part of our national costume.
So voting it will be, with my hair covered the way I want.
