a rush to hospital

Posted on | February 6, 2010 | 2 Comments

No. not me, nor the old lady I care for each saturday.

No, the neighbour.

This afternoon I came back from shopping, cleaning at the place of the dear lady and cooking for her, I heard a strange sound.
First I ignored it, then I thought someone was moving in or hanging new curtains, but it lasted so long and it seemed to become less strong, that I thought it better to find out what was happening.
After listening at some doors (I can tell you that’s weird to do) I arrived at a door where the sound seemed to come from.
I opened the letterbox, (which is here just an opening in the door) and saw someone’s legs on the floor.
It was just like in a movie.

I called and the person asked me to call an ambulance and for someone to force the door open.
So I called the police, because they can make up a statement and the insurance pays.
For the first time in my whole life they arrived within 10 minutes, even before the ambulance.

They cracked the door open and we went in.
The guy had fallen and hurt his head and arm in a very bad way.
He started to cry when he saw my face.
We greeted each other, that’s it. But a familiar face at a moment like that is enough to trigger all emotions.
I asked him if he wanted me to come with him to the hospital and he said “yes”.

He asked me if I agreed he would say I’m his girlfriend, because otherwise I had to wait outside.
Ofcourse I agreed.
Good I went with him, because a few times I had to ask a nurse how long it would take, and we both had the feeling that was speeding up things.

They decided to keep him there, because they were not sure about his headinjury and wanted to observe him there. His arm was broken.
Tomorrow his sister will come over from the north of the country and take him with her to stay there.

I’m so glad I’ve found him and he got help in time.

Well that was so nice of you. He is lucky you are such a concerned person. You should get a hero award for that.
