Greetje Greets You

Last day of february

It’s the last day of february already.
And the olympic games are almost over.
I’ve had a very good time and the children at school too.
Tomorrow we’re going to have a real party, with a closing ceremony of the olympic project.
I’m sure it’s fun.

earthquake and tsunami warning

The day started like almost every saturday: with shopping for the lady I care for at saturdays and a few groceries for myself.
I cleaned her home, and we had a good talk when the news came through of the tsunami near chili.
The nember of deaths and injured are not as bad as an eathqyake of [...]

Checked

Training for a teaching degree is fun, but not always.
Today someone entered the room, smiled and took a seat at the back.
My supervisor walked in too and told me not to register that person was there and just move on.
Today I was conducting an old fashioned learning situation: teacher talking and the kids listening.
I hate [...]

I don’t understand why americans don’t want a good health care plan

I don’t understand why americans don’t want a good health care plan.
We’re using about the same as the one Obama proposes and it works fine.
What is the real problem?
I don’t understand.

Interesting: Balkenende doesn’t know the law?

Being the leader of a demissionairy kabinet/government means that you have to follow the law. And the law states that part of the parliament (Tweede Kamer) decides which decisions can be taken and which not.
Yet the demissionairy prime-minister Balkenende saw it fit to invite the chairmen of the parties and of the Tweede Kamer and [...]

Students need privacy too – OV Chipcard

Students who have to travel to university can opt for a travelpass (OV chipcard).
In due time all citizens need to have one, so the travelpass will have taken the place of the normal tickets and cards.
There are two kinds: a personalised and an anonymous one.
The students have a personalised one. They can’t chose for the [...]

politics..unbelievable!

We’re quite content the government broke up.
I can write “we”, because all people I’ve seen today had the same opinion.
We need a new government.
One that’s less controling, needs less forms to fill in, takes it’s responsibility and stimulates solidarity.
In the past we’ve wondered why people of other countries liked Balkenende so much.
Maybe because he’s rather [...]

watching the olympics

After watching the olympics this night, we decided to stay.
It was fun.
Who needed slept a few hours in turn in the bed, or found a place in one of the other rooms in the student house we were.
Then it was time for the skating of the men 1500 meters.
Some suddenly had an orange hat on, [...]

waiting and.. waiting

Last night the government fell.
I’ve seen quite some outsider comments from foreign newsprograms.
Just a few hit the problem right in the centre.
There was an agreement with all organisations involved to stay there two years. We extended against the will of most citizens another 2 years with the promise that that would be the final extension.
Wouter [...]

mobile phone or stungun?

They looked like ordinary mobile phones, the items in a shipment from china.
But a closer look reveiled that these pretty looking phones were in fact stunguns.
The customers caught 50 of them 2 weeks ago, but how many escaped their attention?
It feels like life has become more of a gamble than of a way of living.
