Looking back on january

January is already over.
It’s unbelievable, that’s 1/12th of the year already!
We had the coldest month of january of the last century, and also the one with the most snow.
But we’ll also remember this month for the terrible disaster in Haiti and the awful consequences.
It’s unknow how many people died, but it’s clear it’s one of [...]

saturday mix #1

OK, let’s start a meme.
Saturday Mix is a meme in which you either talk about what kept you busy today, what shocked you in the news, or you have to write about a theme that is given here.
Well, today I did the usual things, like helping out the old lady, groceries, some phone calls, and [...]

my first week as a teacher

My first week as a teacher was a good week.
Even though my main task was to observe and learn, I’ve enjoyed all the opportunities to step in and support children.
I was lucky to be in a team that is open for changes and very friendly to newcomers.
Ofcourse I recognised the smell of sharpened pencils and [...]

Obama isn’t a saint or a miracle worker, he’s a president

I can’t belief how many blogs show comments on the speech of President Obama.
People have conveniently forgotten in which mess the country was and that he told them that he couldn’t do everything that needed to be done within a year.
And even more interesting: those who told others that they had to stand behind their [...]

the police has computerproblems – due to spelling mistakes?

It’s unbelievable!
For over a week a large group of police offices can’t use the computersystem properly.
The reason of the problem is unknown, but when computers fail due to an abundance of spellingmistakes I’ve pointed out the main reason right now.
We are all taught our national language: Dutch.
In fact we’re taught it to a reasonable level, [...]

I’ve won at Starlight Designs

To my surprise I was one of the winners of a scrapkit at Starlight Designs.
I couldn’t believe it, but it is true.
As I had no photos available on my computer, so I wanted to create something for this site.
The kit is named: Sweet Moment, and that’s what I wanted to create for this site. A [...]

painting is fun sometimes

We went with friends and family to one of my nieces to help her to make her new house to become a home.
The power of numbers is wellknown in my family, so my mom made a list and brought it with her to all birthdays and family gatherings, including christmas and new year.
No one had [...]

the site is open!

And with a loud applause from the falling wet snow in the deep dark night I declare this site for opened!

the feed is fixed

I can’t believe it’s finally working.
That means the last changes can be made and the blog can be announced to the world.
Boy, am I happy it’s working now.
Next week I’ll write a tut for people like me, so others can find their easy way out too.
If you have any gadgets to suggest, feel free to [...]

Transferring the old site

I’m transferring the old site to this new url.
Tranferring blogposts wasn’t a problem, but now I have to get the feedburner rolling and it won’t.
So I’m off for a cuppa. Maybe it takes time to be seen by it.
Any advice is welcome.
